Chupacabra Territory Camping Trip

September25

Things are coming along really well for the next film, Chupacabra Territory. We’ve had some read throughs with the cast and even went on a get to know you/ pre-shoot rehearsal camping trip last weekend, which was great! Any chance I get to go camping I will take it! We had a really fun trip getting into the spirit of the film. We took a few outings to just wander around in the woods improving off the script to get a feel for what the shoot is going to be like. The film is currently slated to be shot in 4 days, which is unbelievably fast, so the more rehearsal the better!

Wrapped on Exhumed

SarahNicklinI don’t even know where to start – this shoot was absolutely amazing. I have had such a fantastic time on this set and I’m really sad it’s over. This cast and crew really become a family during this shoot – we sometimes spent 12-15 hours a day for 11 straight days with each other, and some people were even living at the location where we were shooting. For the past week and a half we have all been inseparable and have loved every minute of it.

Wrapped: The Salinger Spies

May1

Sarah NicklinThis project has been an absolute pleasure from beginning to end! Every step of the way has been so much fun – from fight choreography to the green screen work to the shoots.

To be honest, when I first went to this audition, it wasn’t one of those that I “had to have”, mainly because I thought I was too old for the part. But since I’ve been told to always audition for everything no matter what, I went anyway. At the audition I really liked Todd’s directing style and how he took the extra time to make sure he got a good audition out of each actor, which is what started to first get me excited about the project. Then after the call back about a week went by without hearing anything, which generally means that you didn’t get the part, and I found myself pretty disappointed that I didn’t get it – that’s when I realized how much I really wanted that part. Then the next day, Todd called and offered me the role and I am so glad that he did.

Love and Addiction

What a whirlwind the past few weeks have been!

I got a day player part on the webseries Love Squared. Love Squared is an LA-based production, shot on location in Newport RI, directed by Aaron Massey and produced by Jhennah Sinclaire. All of the leads had initially been cast out of LA and they were looking for locals for some of the smaller roles.

Wrapped on Among Them

Sarah NicklinGum, Coffee, Smoke Detectors, Crossword puzzles, and Bibles.

Working on this set was one of those experiences that reminds me just how much I love what I do. I could have lived on this set forever and I wish that more sets had the same great “vibe” that this one did. It was a very small cast, a very small crew, but every single person genuinely really wanted to be there and that makes all the difference.

Back To School with the Salinger Spies

March4

Sarah NicklinAnother wonderful and very ambitious few days of shooting wrapped! The most recent shoot for the Salinger Spies knocked out the majority of our “big extra” scenes along with most of the remaining dialogue scenes. We had two parties in one day – one for high school students and then a second “elegant” party for the adults. I cannot thank my friends who came to be extras enough for being part of the scene! It was so wonderful to have you there!

Where to start….. I had such a great time during these productions it’s hard to really pick out specific moments. I don’t think I’ve worked on two productions that overlapped like these did. The majority of the cast of Normal were going to be rehearsing the two days before shooting started, however I was set to shoot Debeaked during those two days…. so I went to RI for rehearsal for Normal the two days before everyone else and did a separate rehearsal since most of my scenes are only with a few actors, then went to Chicago to shoot Debeaked for two days, and then back to RI to start shooting Normal… made me think I really need to look into some sort of frequent flier program! Hello from Texas!! I am officially wrapped on the feature The Fetish Set. I spent most of this film either with only one eye as I get pretty beaten up and get this awesome swollen eye prosthetic, or in a little girl outfit with pigtails. This is the first film of a 3-part series, that will hopefully get made depending on the success of this first one – so when it comes out you have to watch it! :)

sarah nicklin seducing collisionsOne of the quickest shoots I’ve been on – finished a feature in I think it was 8 days (non consecutive). The film is very stylized and dialogue heavy. Think A Clockwork Orange meets Clerks, only the focus is more on sexual comedy than stoner comedy or violence. (more…)

One part of our craft as actors is to look the part for the roles that we can play. Now this doesn’t always mean being beautiful and chiseled – some people are better as “the creepy guy” and keep themselves waif-like, or “the funny fat guy” whose entire career is dependent on them keeping those extra pounds. For me, I don’t really fit into either of this, so for me, being fit is an important part of “the package”. (more…)

sarah nicklinTo join SAG or to remain non-union? That is the question.

This is something I’ve been considering very seriously recently. As anyone who knows me or has read any of my other posts, I have been very proudly non-union for a long time, even though I’ve been eligible to join for around 5 years now. I’m at the point where I think being non-union might actually be a hindrance to me. (more…)

Wrapped on a small part in a feature and a short. While working on Alice D on the east coast, I was lucky enough to be able to squeeze in two other projects while being there. (more…)

I am wrapped on the feature film Alice D, the next film from by Jessica Sonneborn and Kristina Page, starring Al Snow and Kane Hodder.

Love, love, loved being on this set!! The best part of course was that I got to spend over a week with Michael again since he had been out of town for over a month at this point working on The Inhabitants. Everyone was living together in this amazing mansion in Barrington RI for the duration of the shoot and it was a blast! Most of the cast and crew knew each other (all though there were some new faces too), either from other projects, or just from having mutual friends, so it was great to see so many of these wonderful people again, and back in my old state of RI no less! We even ended up randomly bumping into our very good and talented friend Michael Thurber one night at the mall while looking for some clothes for costuming, and some of my friends from home such as William Decoff has parts in the film, so it was great to see him and his son Timmy and all my other awesome friends who came out to be extras!
